Seminary Internship Application

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have completed at least one term of seminary. 
  • Preference shall be given to students who are originally from Western PA, but may be attending a seminary outside the Conference.  All seminary students not under appointment are encouraged to apply.
  • Must have or obtain all of the Conference and State required background checks.  

Stipend and Housing

  • Stipend shall be $2,500 divided in 3 equal payments at the end of each month, issued by the Conference Center.
  • Reimbursements (such as mileage, meals, supplies, etc.) shall be the responsibility of the host district and shall not exceed $1,000.  Reimbursements shall be only for ministry related work while serving in the district, not travel from seminary.    
  • Housing shall be worked out between the host site and the intern.  When possible the intern may stay with family or friends in the district for stewardship and safety.  Room and board will not be at a cost to the intern. 

Dates of the Internship and Time Off

  • The internship shall begin Friday, June 1, 2018 and end on Sunday, August 15th, 2018.
    • Interns will be expected to participate in Annual Conference as lay delegates.
  • The intern shall have one week of vacation and two days off each week.

Description of Internship

All interns will have opportunities to preach, teach and participate in church leadership activities.  Specific learning outcomes and experiences provided will be further determined by the intern and host site.   Internships will be located within the bounds of the Western PA Conference.  Specific placements will be determined through the interview process, in consultation with the intern.

Expect to hear from us before the end of February for follow up conversation about your application

We will also consult with your SPRC or dCOM.

Decisions will be made by March and assignments to specific sites will be completed by the end of April.
